Forecasting Yahoo! TQ Scores

Many Click Forensics clients use the Average Click Score for various traffic sources as a publisher management tool to help decide the best monetization for each different source (publisher, sub-publisher, sub-sub-publisher, etc.). Sending the highest quality traffic to upstream partners with the most stringent standards and the best revenue share maximizes profitability for ad networks and publishers.

For clients seeking to maximize their Yahoo! TQ Score (YTQ), the best practice is to use the Average Click Score as a threshold for the quality of traffic delivered to Yahoo! But Click Forensics also provides an even more effective tool in the YTQ Forecast tab of the Click Forensics user interface.

This tab provides clients with a daily forecast of the Type Tags that are producing traffic that will generate "Low" Yahoo! TQ scores (i.e. YTQ=1,2,3). The information is also available through a command line interface so the list can be programmatically pulled on a daily schedule.

Recent changes to the Yahoo! TQ scoring algorithm have caused some feeds to receive significantly lower scores than they'd previously experienced. The new YTQ Forecast will help provide better insight into the feeds that are likely to generate low scores.

Some of the technology used to produce the YTQ Forecast looks at different dimensions in traffic than the standard scoring algorithms. One new dimension is the analysis of keyword distribution, identifying patterns that are highly likely to yield low YTQ scores. New click types have also been added to the standard scoring algorithms and will appear for traffic designated as fraud or low quality using the same technology as in the Yahoo! TQ Forecast report.
